Terms & Conditions
Please read these rental terms carefully before making your vehicle booking.
1. General
These Terms and Conditions govern the rental of vehicles from Go Qtown Car Rentals. By booking or renting a vehicle, the renter agrees to comply with these terms. We reserve the right to refuse a rental if the renter does not meet the required conditions.
2. Driver Eligibility
Drivers must be at least 25 years old and hold a valid driver’s licence.
- Licences must be in English or accompanied by an official International Driving Permit (IDP).
- Drivers aged 21–24 may rent with an additional daily surcharge.
- Only drivers explicitly listed on the rental agreement are permitted to operate the vehicle.
3. Rental Period
The rental period begins at the agreed pickup date and time and ends upon return. Late returns may incur additional charges. We reserve the right to charge extra rental fees for overdue returns.
4. Payment & Security Bond
Full payment is required before or at the start of the rental.
- A security bond will be held on the renter’s credit card.
- The bond may cover damages, fines, fuel, cleaning, or late return charges.
- The bond will be released after the vehicle is returned and inspected.
5. Insurance & Excess
All rentals include standard insurance coverage, subject to an excess amount.
6. Vehicle Use Restrictions
Vehicles must NOT be used:
- Off-road or on restricted / unsealed roads
- For racing, towing, or competitive driving
- For illegal activities or transporting prohibited goods
- By unauthorized or unlisted drivers
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles. A cleaning fee of up to $150 will apply for excessive dirt or smoke odor.
7. Fuel Policy
Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full. If returned incomplete, full refueling costs plus a $20 refueling administrative fee will apply.
8. Accidents & Damage
In the event of an accident or vehicle damage:
- Notify Go Qtown Car Rentals immediately
- Contact local police if legally required
- Complete a full written accident report
Failure to report accidents promptly may void insurance coverage.
9. Traffic Offences & Fines
The renter is fully responsible for all traffic fines, speed camera infringements, parking tickets, and toll charges. An administrative fee of $35 applies per offence processed.
10. Vehicle Condition
The vehicle must be returned in the same overall condition as received, with all keys and accessories. Any new damage not recorded at pickup will be charged to the renter.
11. Cancellation & Refund Policy
11.1 Free Cancellation
Cancel up to 48 hours before pickup for a full 100% refund.
11.2 Late Cancellation
Cancellations made within 48 hours of pickup incur a fee equal to one day’s rental rate.
11.3 No-Show Policy
No refund will be provided if the customer fails to arrive on time, does not notify us of delays, or does not meet rental eligibility requirements.
11.4 Early Return
No refunds or credits are issued for unused rental days after vehicle pickup.
11.5 Booking Modifications
Changes are subject to vehicle availability and may incur price adjustments.
11.6 Refund Processing
Approved refunds are processed within 3–7 business days (standard bank delays may apply).
11.7 Company Cancellations
If we cannot provide the booked vehicle, customers will receive a replacement vehicle (if available) or a full refund.
11.8 Cancellation Method
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email or official booking channels and confirmed by us.
12. Liability
Go Qtown Car Rentals is not liable for loss or damage to personal belongings left in the vehicle, delays due to mechanical breakdowns or unforeseen events, or indirect and consequential losses.
13. Compliance with New Zealand Laws
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and all disputes fall under exclusive New Zealand jurisdiction. Renters must comply with all applicable road regulations, including:
- Land Transport Act 1998
- Road User Rule 2004
- Driver Licensing Rule 1999
- Offences & Penalties Regulations 1999
- Vehicle Standards Compliance 2002 & Waka Kotahi NZTA regulations
Driver Responsibilities
- Do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Follow all road rules, signals, and speed limits
- Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts at all times
- Use approved child restraints where required by law
Liability for Breaches
The renter is fully responsible for all legal breaches. Violations may result in immediate termination of the rental agreement, loss of insurance coverage, and full liability for all damages and associated costs.
